Vacation 2017 Day 3

Into the Badlands

We set out today with clear sky, but that would soon change.
Heading west again on I-90 about a hour into our trip the skies open up and rains fell mixed with hail. the rain didn't last long and by the time we reached our first stop it, Palisades Park  was down to a drizzle. The park is known for is Pink Sioux Quartzite formations.

After a quick stop we continued on west to Sioux Fall South Dakota, and that is went the rain really came down. The roads in town quickly small steams, we decided to wait out the rain and get some lunch.

After lunch the rains had stop and  the roads cleared up enough to make it down to the Falls, we even had our first Moose Siting (strange he was so close to town).

Back on the road again we came to our last stop on the day, Mitchel S.D. home to The Worlds Only Corn Palace.

Minnesota is the Land of 10,000 Lakes, half way through the state and we only saw 3 Lakes, so I can not confirm the count 10,000 may be high.

Vacation 2017 Day 1

Heading Out to South Dakota

Today was the First Day of an 18 Day Trip, that will take Sue and I through 10 states.
Our first day of 650 mile ride was mostly uneventful, which saw a little rain in Pennsylvania and a whole lot of bug through Ohio.
First night stay was in Fremont, Indiana just over the Ohio state Line.

First night in Indiana.

Sue and I had dinner at a small place not far from our hotel called The Hang Out.
Good food with a great atmosphere. Kind of a 60's Flower Power/ Lake House Vibe.

Places I've Been

Our Maine trip in 2016 was one of my favorite. Acadia National Park is a must see.

I have been as far south as Savannah, Georgia back in 1979. for the Bicentennial of the Siege of Savannah.
